After having rented a cottage long term since 2004 we decided to look for something to buy. After a while you get tired of spending your time renovating other peoples property. We started looking and found out that a cottage in the Norwegian mountatins close to Oslo was way too expensive. So we startet looking in Sweden. We kept an eye on  www.hemnet.se and we went to Sweden a couple of times but with no luck. Then in May 2006 I saw an ad for a property right outside  Torsby - 40.000 sqf. of land with a "coastline" to a lake and a small old house, a guesthouse and a barn to an affordable price. It almost sounded too good to be true, but we decided to go to the showing of the house.

For once reality exceeded the sales-ad. It was a truly Swedish idyll and we both fell head over heels in love with the place. After a couple of very distressing days with bits from different interested buyers Larsviken became ours. We took over officially the 1st. of July 20006.

We will use this site to post updates on how we are doing with the update of the house. We will probably spend a lot og time and money but we are sure it is worth our while.
